Three killed in accidents involving trailers [Graphic Photo]

Three persons have reportedly been killed in two isolated incidents involving articulated vehicles.

 Three persons have reportedly been killed at different locations in Nsukka, Enugu state on Monday, November 21, by two articulated vehicles loaded with Coca-cola products and Hero beer.

A resident reportedly disclosed to Daily Post on conditions of anonymity that, the first accident happened at Ugwuoye near old NEPA when the articulated vehicle loaded with Hero beer lost its brakes and some cartons of beer slid off the vehicle and hit a motorcyclist and his female passenger.

The source said, “I was opposite old NEPA to buy something when I saw the driver trying to control vehicle and shouting my brake, my brake and crates of beer falling from the vehicles

“The motorcyclist died on the spot as a result of lots of crates of beer that hit him but the female passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital where she later died."

Daily Post reports the second accident reportedly occurred one hour later when another articulated vehicle crushed one person in front of Nitel building.

“Today is a black Monday in Nsukka, unfortunately the trailer in that accident opposite Nitel was set ablaze by angry mob,” The source added.

The chairman of GSM Nsukka main market, Mr Innocent Ekwunife, while speaking on the sad occurrence said he was still in shock over the death of one of the victims who was his colleague.
