A 19-year-old boy, Stephen John, has been remanded in prison custody by a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly stealing the sum of N31, 000 from a church offering.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that John had broken into the church, a Catholic Church located at Elegbata, Agbongbon area of the state on November 16, 2016, at about 11pm  to steal the money.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Nurudeen Thomas, told the court that the accused with two others who are still at large, broke into the church and stole the money from the church offering box.
“He was caught by a security guard, while the others escaped," Inspector Thomas told the Magistrate, Mrs. F.O. Ikobayo.
